Sears Canada, the Canadian division of the Hoffman Estates, IL–based department store retailer, in November mailed its Lands’ End catalogs to its Canadian customers. A second mailing followed in December; others will continue throughout 2004. Although Sears Canada won’t reveal how many books it mailed, the addition of Sears Canada names doubles Lands' End's previous customer count in Canada.
Per the arrangement with its U.S. parent company, which bought Lands’ End last year, Sears Canada will receive a commission on product sold through the Lands’ End catalogs sent to its customers. Lands’ End will fulfill the orders.
Although Lands’ End clothes have been available in most U.S. Sears stores for a year, there are no plans to make them available in Sears Canada stores in 2004, because Sears Canada already carries similar product. The catalog mailings will help the company to determine whether it should offering the line in Sears Canada stores, however.
